Martin Knott Sr.

Chief Executive Officer

Martin has 30 years of experience in the mechanical and general construction industries and has served as chair of a privately-owned real estate holding company with 6,000 apartments and five shopping centers. Over the last six years, Martin operated as chair, CEO, general manager, and/or managing director of two educational software companies. Under his management the companies grew from start-up status to being sold to their largest competitor. His combined knowledge and experience in construction and information technology provide KTrack with an unmatched depth of experience regarding technology, services, growth, scale and revenue. Martin holds a BA from Loyola University Maryland and a Master Licenses for the State of Maryland in plumbing, as well as heating and ventilating and air conditioning.

Owen Knott

Chief Technology Officer

Responsible for systems engineering, product development, and software development processes, Owen is the keystone founder who has driven all technical achievements to date. Prior to KTrack, as a co-founder and chief operating officer of Knott Mechanical, Owen was responsible for managing and streamlining the operations of the company. Under his leadership, the company sustained a compounded annual growth rate of 20% for 15 years. While fulfilling the role of COO at Knott Mechanical, Owen dedicated the majority of his time to infusing information technology into the business with the goal of providing an extraordinary experience to Knott Mechanical’s clients while continually pursuing efficiency and productivity gains across the organization. As the architect of the KTrack Platform, Owen has harnessed Knott Mechanical as a test bed for proving out design concepts with users and supporting KTrack’s value with operational data. Owen is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in management information systems.


Bill Spies 

Senior Product Manager

Bill brings more than 20 years of software development experience as well as product management to the KTrack team. Through his work with various software organizations like Tricerat and ANCILE, he has contributed to more than $250 million in sales and to the creation of agile practices within each organization. His experience and success are supported by his passion for developing products that solve real world problems. Bill holds a BS from Salisbury University in business administration and marketing.

Murray Hestley

Murray recently retired as Vice President Virtual Design & Construction for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company after nearly 40 years in the construction industry. At Whiting-Turner he was worked to define and implement BIM technology throughout design and construction. He is still actively participating with owners, designers, suppliers, and construction firms to leverage the best results for their projects to enhance facility lifecycles. As a member of the Wye River Advisory Board, Murray is assisting the company as to how this powerful platform is deployed to collect data for more effective facility maintenance. His inquisitive nature wants to understand how the information generated can be analyzed and used as a method of determining best materials, equipment, and management practices and applied to individual customer’s facilities.

Ken Bado

Ken has been transforming IT companies for the last 30 years. In addition to being CEO of GMB Consulting, LLC, he serves on boards of high growth software companies and various non-profits. Prior to GMB, he was Executive Vice President of Autodesk where he lead its growth from $800 million to over $2 billion in 6 years (160%) and restructured the global reseller/partner networks and developer communities to improve and expand the company’s ecosystem. In addition to his sales and marketing expertise, Ken is a turnaround expert and angel based in Dallas, Texas.

Martin is the President, Cofounder and Co-Owner of Knott Mechanical Inc. (KM) and a Founder and co-owner of Wye River Technologies. KM is one of the Maryland’s premier commercial HVAC and plumbing service providers, working with more than 1,200 customers providing service to over 2.000 buildings and 90 million sq. ft. of space. Johns Hopkins Healthcare and Comcast are among the many clients with whom the firm enjoys a long-term relationship.
