Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport - Fort Lauderdale, FL

This project’s scope includes several phases of demolition and construction within an active airline terminal. Careful not to impact unrelated airport activities, the work consisted of improvements supporting baggage handling and inspections, a new gate and hold room, interior renovations, and the replacement and expansion of the terminal’s chiller systems. Exterior work included the demolition of an existing gate to make way for a new two-story addition intended for retail services on the upper level and TSA baggage inspection operations below, and considerable work to the exterior concrete apron and the installation of a new exterior fuel supply line and hydrant to support the addition of a new gate for the terminal. Interior work was also substantial, consisting of reconfiguration of existing baggage conveyors and installation of new conveyors and baggage processing equipment, relocation of five airline’s offices, a new ticket counter, new crew lounge, passenger queuing area, new and updated restroom areas, and extensive revisions to the mechanical, electrical, life safety, and ceiling systems for the affected areas.
